Arts Council

ARTS COUNCIL meets monthly to coordinate schoolwide programs which encourage art exploration and appreciation for all Marshdale students.

ARTS COUNCIL PROGRAMS

ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE programs allow visiting artists (writers, painters, etc.) to work with all Marshdale students for 'art's sake.' These programs offer conditions that are conducive to creativity, and they provide students with a large variety of art opportunities.

The ART APPRECIATION PROGRAM (you may remember it as 'Picture Lady') helps students become familiar with and learn to appreciate the works of famous artists. As a volunteer you will receive a folder of projects/lessons to do with the kids based on various famous artists.  Preparation is minimal and with the support of the art teachers, there are visuals and books available in the art room to go along with the lessons. Be an advocate for the arts and have fun at the same time.

Julie Sims is coordinating the 2011-12 Art Appreciation Program.  Volunteers are needed for each classroom.  For more information or to volunteer CLICK HERE or contact Julie at julie@studiojjewelry.com.
